The Botswana Public Officers Pension Fund

Benefits from any employer's retirement fund form a very important part of an employee's retirement. They also provide financial assistance in the event of serious ill health or untimely death.

In view of the global trend towards defined contribution retirement funds and the different needs of different employees, Government has introduced a new defined contribution pension fund with effect from 1 April, 2001. This will give existing employees an alternative option regarding their retirement provision, as well as more flexibility regarding the benefits payable. All future new Government employees will be required to join the new defined contribution pension fund as a condition of service.
